Average Age of Marriage in Girls and Boys According to the most recent studies conducted in the country, the average age marriage is 22 years of age for girls and 26 for boys. Dr. Shahla Kazemipour, the Research Deputy of Population Studies and Research Center for Asia and the Pacific, in an interview with the Public Relations Department of the Center pointed out to the change in the age of marriage in the youth, especially the girls, in the recent decade and said: "Some changes has caused the age of marriage to rise in girls, so that according to the latest census in 2006, the average age of marriage in girls has risen from 19.6 years (in 1976) to 23.5 years; that for boys, however, has risen by one year only, that is from 26 to 27." "Different studies and statistical sources offer various figures for the average age of marriage in the youth. For example, Civil Status Registration Organization, which is responsible for the registration of marriages in the nation, has declared the average age of marriage in the youth as 21.5 years." she added.
Accessibility of narcotics accounts for 50 percent of the youth drug addiction.
